Vesak is an international celebration and listed among UN Observances. Buddhism is one of the world’s oldest philosophies of non-violence and has practiced peaceful relations for over 2600 years. The National Apology to the Stolen Generations was observed in Queens Gardens on the morning of 13 February 2016 at Queens Gardens, Shepparton. Queens Gardens was filled with participants, local indigenous community, students from local schools and civic leaders.

Vesak Celebrations presented by the newly formed Buddhist Association of the Goulburn Valley were well attended on evening of Saturday, 21 May in Queens Gardens. One Buddhis Monk, Venerable Prahatit of the Buddhist Sangha in Albury Wodonga participated in the celebrations.

25 spiritual sojourners joined a tour organised by Bendigo Interfaith Council to Shepparton on Saturday, 21 May, and were hosted by the Shepparton Interfaith Network. The tour group visited several places of worship and took in the new display on the former Shepparton Synagogue at the Museum.
