This day was the 16th Anniversary of the Apology to the Stolen Generations. The Guest Speaker was Dierdre Robertson, Co-Convenor of the Shepparton Region Reconciliation Group. The theme of her talk was Truth Telling, and honouring “A commitment to do more.”

Shepparton: 2021 Sorry Day Commemoration

Shepparton Region Reconciliation Group, in collaboration with Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation, the Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative and City of Greater Shepparton will conduct an observance of Sorry Day at Monash Park on the anniversary of Sorry Day, May 26, at 10:10am. With regard to social distancing and Covid-Safe, attendance must be booked online; this event will also be live streamed on Facebook. All community members are invited to join the 2021 Sorry Day Commemoration.

Shepparton Apology Breakfast 2021 – Online

The Shepparton Apology Breakfast will move online this year for the first time in its history, to protect Elders from ongoing COVID-19 concerns. the Apology Breakfast will be broadcast online on Friday 12th of February, 2021, at the amended time of 10:00am on the Council’s Facebook Page.

National Sorry Day, Shepparton 2017




National Sorry Day is an Australia-wide observance held on May 26 each year. This day gives people the chance to come together and share the steps towards healing for the Stolen Generations, their families and communities. Stolen Generations refer to Aboriginal Australians who were forcibly removed from their families and communities. A Sorry Day observance will be held at Monash Park Shepparton, on Friday May 26, 2017 commencing at 10:15am
