The University of Melbourne, Department of Rural Health and Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences invite you to attend a Public Lecture Panel ‘Breaking Down Stigma in Mental Health’ – What can we do to eradicate cultural, social and gender barriers? at Westside Centre on Thursday 12 September 2019
This is made even more difficult as each of our personal perceptions of mental health is influenced by where we come from, the values that we grow up with and our ‘place’ in society. So, what can we do as a vastly diverse community to address some of the problems that our mental health system struggles with?
Join our experts and consumers as we explore the latest in stigma research and interventions and discuss how we can translate this research into real outcomes for our society.
Panel:
Alan Thorpe | Facilitator the Dardi Munwurro Strong Spirit Men’s Behaviour and Healing Program
Abdullah Naveed | Community Development Officer for the Ethnic Council of Shepparton
