United Nations World day of Tolerance is observed annually on 16 November. The Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District in collaboration with Shepparton Interfaith Network will be presenting several events in obervance of World Day of Tolerance 2015.
Tolerance Day
The International Day for Tolerance is an annual observance declared by UNESCO in 1995 to generate public awareness of the dangers of intolerance. It is observed on 16 November, each year.
In 2014, the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District partnered with the Shepparton Interfaith Network and provided a celebration of UN Day of Tolerance at SPC Ardmona Kidstown on Friday, November 14 for schools and the local community. On Friday 16 November 2014, approximately 250 people attended the celebration of International Tolerance Day. This year, on Friday 19 November, there will be a celebration of World Day of Tolerance at Ardmona Kidstown. There will also be an observance of Tolerance Day for Schools at Sirius College on Monday, 16 November, the UN Observance Day.
At SPC-Ardmona Kidstown, there will be
- A welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, and dance by the Dungara Dancers
- Talks by Students
- Display of Poster Competition
- Announcement of Winner of the Poster Competition
- Free lunch
- Free Train rides, Face Painting, Flags of the World, and other activities
