The University of Melbourne, Department of Rural Health observes International Women’s Day with an online webinar by Professor Maxine McKew on Tuesday 8th March 2022 from 5:30 – 6:30pm. The topic will be Are we there yet? – On International Women’s Day a 2nd wave feminist looks at the balance sheet

The Department of Rural Health is committed to sharing health and education expertise with our communities to build their knowledge and resilience. Our keynote speaker will share her insights and offer solutions.

The University of Melbourne, Department of Rural Health are excited to bring you a
webinar by Professor Maxine McKew on International Women’s Day.

Maxine McKew is an Hon Enterprise Professor at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education at the University of Melbourne.

She is the author of two books – Class Act, a study of the key challenges in Australian
schooling, and a memoir, Tales from the Political Trenches.

Maxine is an active board member and currently serves as a director of New Energy Solar, the State Library of Victoria, and Respect Victoria. She is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Her background traverses both journalism and politics. In her time she’s broken through a few barriers, most notably in 2007 when she became the first woman in Australian political history to beat a sitting prime minister in the federal seat of Bennelong.

There will be the opportunity for Q & A at the end of the presentation.
