Food Delivery Help Needed; Volunteers Sought

GV Cares - Support during lockdownGoulburn Valley Lighthouse – in collaboration with other agencies – seeks to provide families with support during lockdown. Our community needs to pull together more than ever to support the many left vulnerable by Covid. Lighthouse is putting together a small pool of volunteers to help drive community assistance for those in need, starting immediately.

Under the GV Cares banner (check out and like the Facebook page) and working with schools and others we are identifying families short on food, medicine and other essentials.

If required we will use volunteers to deliver food directly to their homes in an initiative supported by the Shepparton Foodshare, Ethnic Council of Shepparton, Committee 4 Greater Shepparton, Greater Shepparton Secondary College and others. Our goal is to minimise the number of people forced out of their homes to seek food etc due to a lack of funds, capacity and support.

Are you

  • Double vaccinated
  • Displaying no symptoms
  • Generally fit and healthy with no underlying health conditions
  • Not awaiting a covid test or yourself in quarantine?

If you answer yes to all of the above and have some free time we may call on you to assist in collection and delivery of food from Foodshare to those in need.

Please email bsenini@gslp.com.au and advise your contact details and availability and we may call on your assistance. All drivers will be provided with stringent infection control advice and protocols and PPE.

There is no requirement to enter homes – all foodstuffs would be left in a designated outdoor area with no contact at all with household members.

If you are interested/available to be part of this community crew, please email Belinda and confirm your covid status and times that suit and we may be in touch. If so you will be deemed an essential worker by Lighthouse and provided with a relevant permit.

Thanking you in anticipation
