Homelessness is on the agenda at a networking event in Shepparton next month.

The morning tea, hosted by Hume Region Homelessness Network, is at Friars Cafe on August 6.

The network is made up of 14 homelessness funded agencies across the region which raise awareness for homelessness in communities and collaborate on relevant issues.

The event falls in Homelessness Week, an annual event to bring awareness to the 116000 Australians who are homeless on any given night.

The theme for this year’s event — August 4 to 10 — is Housing Ends Homelessness.

Hume Region Homelessness Network co-ordinator Linda Grellman said during the week they hoped to raise awareness for homelessness in the region and to raise funds for the community.

Tickets for the morning tea are $15, with all funds from the event put back into the local community to assist with issues of homelessness in the Shepparton region.

‘‘The event is open to anyone who would like to learn or has an interest in homelessness,’’ Ms Grellman said.

The morning tea would be educational and rewarding event, giving people the chance support homelessness in the community.

The morning tea on August 6 run from 10.30am to 11.10am. Anyone wanting to buy tickets can contact Ms Grellman by emailing lgrellman@beyondhousing.org.au
