Light Festival at Bendigo Stupa

The Great Stupa of Bendigo will celebrate Vesak with a festival of light at the Stupa premises tomorrow evening, Saturday 20 May 2017 from 5:30pm. There will be guided tours of the Great Stupa and gardens earlier in the day for free.

While entry to the day show remains free, organisers have made the night show a fully ticketed event with no free entry.

Visitors to the day show can join guided tours of the Great Stupa and gardens, participate in workshops and talks, enjoy cultural performances, see the beautiful replica of the Jade Buddha statue, and view the large collection of Buddhist relics, statues and artworks.

The night show starts with a ceremony to raise ‘Peace Flags in the Wind’ and then includes multicultural music, dance performances, fire twirling, an Indonesian puppet show, Tibetan chanting, didgeridoo playing and drumming.

All this will be accompanied by beautiful coloured lights and images projected onto the Great Stupa until the night ends with a brilliant show of fireworks.

The day show will be held from 11 am to 4 pm while the night/light show will be held from 5.30 pm to 7 pm. Tickets for the night show are $10 for adults and $5 for children and can be purchased at www.stupa.org.au and the Great Stupa can be found at 25 Sandhurst Town Rd, Myers Flat
