St Mary’s Parish Mooroopna will tackle a hidden issue in the community, the experienced effects of drug addiction, in particular, the effects of the drug ICE in the Community. An evening examining social issues and solutions will take place at St Marys School, Mooroopna, on evening of Tuesday, 19 April.
SOCIAL ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS:
A COMMUNITY FORUM TO TACKLE ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH ‘ICE’ IN OUR COMMUNITY
The Goulburn Valley has a huge issue with the abuse of drugs and ICE. The levels of domestic violence as a result are well above the State average. Staff, Parents and Councillors of St Mary’s Parish and School at Mooroopna sees an urgent need to raise awareness and seek to address this critical issue.
Families especially with children at our schools need to be aware of the prevalence of this social scourge. The public Forum that has been arranged will address the issue.
Guest Speakers
Jenny O’Connell is an experienced and well known counsellor. She will speak about a new method of counselling which seeks to assist people affected by this scourge.
Geoff Long !~ A parent will tell the story of a family coping with the issue.
Det. Sen. Sgt Paul Maher, Mitchell-Benalla Crime Manager, a senior police officer, will speak about the extent of the problem in the Goulburn Valley and the North East of Victoria.
This session is offered with interests of service clubs, sports clubs and the local aboriginal community as well as families and concerned members of the community in mind. An invitation is extended to parents from our schools and the broader community to attend.
