Religious groups should not be able to promote the belief that men are superior to women if Australia wants to address family violence, an inquiry has heard. The use of religion to justify gender inequality or violence against women has largely been ignored in Australia, Victoria's Royal Commission into Family Violence heard on Tuesday. The Australian Muslim Women's Centre for Human Rights submission to the Royal Commission leaves no stone unturned in examining aspects of violence in CALD communities.

International Women’s Day – Conversations with Women
The Ethnic Communities Council of Shepparton and District will host an event “Conversations with Women” celebrating International Women’s Day on Friday, 6 March at Harder Auditorium, GOTAFE, Shepparton.
International Women’s Day has become a time to reflect on progress, to call for change and to celebrate the courage and determination of the women who changed history. In 1977, the United Nations General Assembly invited member states to proclaim March 8 as UN Day for Women’s Rights and World Peace.
The Seventh JCMA Women’s Conference 2013 for Jewish, Christian and Muslim Women will be commence on 10 February 2013 at Lower Plenty.
