Picnic 4 Peace 2018

picnicpeace Picnic for Peace for World Peace Day is a volunteer run event by community members for the community with a common goal of peace, hope and unity. The 2018 Picnic for Peace – the 4th annual World Peace gathering at the Victoria Park Lake, Shepparton – will take place on Sunday 9 September in Shepparton from 11am – 3pm.

This volunteer run free event gathers people together who have a common goal in our hearts: that there be peace in the world! Mahatama Gandhi told, “Be the Change you wish to see in the world!” These volunteers and the Shepparton community all treasure peace in their hearts. So we begin with peace in the heart, which will lead to peace in the Society.

Our volunteers and participants who share a common hope of Peace in the world come together and celebrate Peace with live music and activities for all ages to picnic together, to dance, to sing, play soccer, make flower crowns, play a board game, yoga, get to know each other better, make new friends and share messages of what peace means to you!

The many different communities that make up Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley treasure peace as their most important possession; their state of being, their enjoyment of life. In collaboration with the United Nations International Day of Peace, we are gathering to promote Peace, Positive Energy, Hope and Unity. You are invited to come join us for this family-friendly picnic.

You are cordially invited to fill your picnic basket with your favourite food, grab your picnic rug, your family, friends and community groups and head to the lake Sunday Sept 9th from 11am until pm for an all ages family friendly free event. Everyone is welcome.

  • BBQ food provided or you are welcome to bring your own picnic
  • Live music & performance
  • Activities for all ages – Live Music, Kite Flying, Face Painting, Soccer, Flower Crowns, Giant Henna, Games, Yoga, Craft activity for Peace, Birds of Peace, Dungala Dancers, and much more.

Spread your message of Peace – bring your posters for peace or any artwork that has the message of hope and peace and enjoy some other lovely surprises!

We will have a limited number of kites available on the day but if you have your own kite we encourage you to bring it along.

If you can’t join us on the day perhaps you can have a Picnic for Peace wherever you are – it can be a solo picnic, a picnic with few people or a big picnic. We encourage you take a photo and upload it here and to social media with the hashtag #picnic4peace
