National Sorry Day for 2016 will take place on Thursday, May 26, 2016. There will be a community event at Monash Gardens, Shepparton, commencing at 11:00AM followed by a walk to LaTrobe University.
In 2000, ‘SORRY’ was written in the sky above 500,000 Australians walking across the Harbour Bridge. Sorry Day is now commemorated nationally with thousands of Australians from all walks of life participating in memorial services, commemorative meetings, survival celebrations and community gatherings to acknowledge the Stolen Generations.
“An apology begins the Healing process. It means an understanding, a willingness to enter into the suffering. It implies a commitment to do more” (cfr. late Sir Ronald Wilson co-author “Bringing Them Home” report)
Shepparton Regional Reconciliation Group invites all to share in our local Sorry Day commemoration, at Monash Park on Thursday, 26 May 2016.
