Funeral Book - Guide to Islamic Funeral Rites and Practices
Hysnii Merja, Imam of Moslem Mosque, Shepparton, has published Funeral Book, Guide to Islamic Funeral Rites and Practices. This book focusses on funeral rites, processes, and ethics as taught in the Qu’ran and in the tradition of the Prophet.

From the Introduction:

The history of humanity is a testament to the most inevitable process that every human being will experience. Death is the final cycle of human life on this earth, the
conclusion of a great book authored by ourselves. It is a universal law decreed by Allah Almighty, one that applies to all humans, jinn, and every other creature without distinction. Just as humans die, so do all other beings. No one is eternal or omnipotent enough to defy this divine law. Whether rich or poor, great or small, king or worker, on land, at sea, or in the air — death is our ultimate destiny, and its appointed time will come.

Every soul shall taste death, and you will only be given your compensation on the Day of Resurrection” – Qu’ran, Surah Al-Imran 3:185

Death is not disintegration, extermination, annihilation, or disaster. It is neither a punishment nor a reward. Rather, it is a cycle, a process, a transition — a
passage from one room to another and a journey to the real world. For those immersed in material pleasures, deniers of the truth, the arrogant, and tyrants, death may appear as punishment, evoking great fear. For the believer, however, death is liberation from the prison of this life, leading to the reward for the sacrifices and good deeds performed throughout one’s lifetime.

We pray that Allah forgives us, has mercy on us, protects us from the punishment of Hellfire, and rewards us for our good deeds in His Paradise.

“Funeral Book” was created in direct response to the needs of the Islamic community.

It is the most thorough and accessible research available in this field, designed to support individuals and families during one of the most difficult times — when a loved one passes away.

The book is organized in a Q&A style, making it easy to navigate and understand. You’ll find clear, practical answers to many of the questions people often have but are afraid to ask.

This book is urgently needed, because it helps you finally distinguish between what is truly Islamic and what is cultural or misinformed. It brings clarity, peace of mind, and confidence to those responsible for funeral arrangements.

The final chapter makes it especially valuable — it contains duas and etiquettes for visiting the cemetery, including what to say, how to say it, and how to act while visiting your loved ones.
