Houses for People 2020: Council adapts Affordable Housing Strategy

Affordable housingCouncil adopted the Greater Shepparton Affordable Housing Strategy: Houses for People 2020 at the Ordinary Council Meeting held on Tuesday, 21 April 2020.The Strategy builds on Council’s ongoing support for homeless and low-income households, providing a strategic basis for expansion of funding advocacy to the State and Federal Governments. It includes a range of actions that can be taken by Council to maximise efficient use of funding allocations and support increased availability and diversity in Affordable and Social Housing options for vulnerable groups.

Homelessness in Shepparton 2019

riverside Greater Shepparton has several agencies that assist with housing for the homeless. The Bridge Youth Service, Beyond Housing, Kildonan, Pathways at the Salvation Army and other welfare agencies all provide assistance. Statistics tell that – for regional Victoria – Shepparton has an unusually high number of homeless. Social planning is proceeding for social housing on several fronts.
