Goulburn Valley Interfaith Meetings




During June 2017, Shepparton Interfaith Network will conduct interfaith meetings in Euroa, Numurkah, Benalla and Cobram. These meetings are offered in order that the community members might be able to listen to speakers from different religions and have their questions answered in an atmosphere of mutual respect and harmony. This program is called Believing, Bridging, Building and Bonding.

Holy Week Shepparton and District, 2017


Holy Week is the commemoration of the last week of Jesus Christ on Earth in his mortal coil. Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday and leads up to Easter Sunday. On Thursday evening of Holy Week, there is a celebration of the Lord’s Supper, and the action of the passion of Jesus Christ is observed on Good Friday – with Stations of the Cross and a reading of the Passion of Christ from one of the gospels. Easter Day – the day of resurrection of Jesus, is observed sometimes at Midnight, often with a dawn service commemorating the Resurrection, and services on Easter Day itself. We bring a listing of services during Holy Week.

Out of the Blue ~ Mooroopna and Numurkah

oobsParticipant Faith Communities in the Shepparton Interfaith Network are significantly aware of the current milk price farmgate crisis and involved in community care. “Out of the Blue” is set in a hotel bar, where locals are gathered to pay tribute to one of their mates that they have lost to suicide. The play is both funny and sad but very relevant today, especially in regional and rural areas where the threat of suicide is a concern to many communities. This play will be presented in Mooroopna on Wednesday 3 August, and Numurkah on Friday, 5 August.

Open Letter on Occasion of Eid

eidmuburakThe Shepparton Interfaith Network writes an open letter to the Islamic Community of Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley. The month of Ramadan – observed by the Islamic Community of the Goulburn Valley – has passed and today is the day of Eid-al-Fitr, the conclusion of the Holy Month.
