Learning from Joseph Furphy's Journey of Faith will the the guest topic at the Annual General Meeting of the Shepparton Interfaith Network.




The Annual General Meeting of Shepparton Interfaith Network Inc will be held at St Brendans Parish Centre on the evening of 5 February, 2013 from 6:30 – 8:30pm

At this meeting, noted speaker on studies and writings of Joseph Furphy, Pat Crudden, will give an address Learning from Joe Furphy’s Journey of Faith

Joe Furphy, as he was known, moved to Shepparton with his wife and family in 1883 and worked as a mechanic in his brother's foundry until his departure for Perth at the end of 1903. He commenced writing his masterpiece in the early 1890's and sent it to The Bulletin for publication in 1897. It was immediately recognized as a classic and accepted for publication hut did not see the light of day until August of 1903.

The Goulburn Valley Regional Library conducts an annual Joseph Furphy Literary Prize Competition.
