Transgender Day of Remembrance

Transgender Day of Remembrance is observed worldwide on 20 November, annually. In Australia, we also use the day to remember those in the community who have taken their own lives due to social barriers and isolation. Shepparton Interfaith Network will facilitate a remembrance service at Victoria Park Lake on the evening of 20 November.

Transgender Day of Remembrance is an important event for the trans and gender diverse community – who are not excluded from Divine revelation – as it is a day the trans community can acknowledge, in such a public way, those that have passed. It is also an opportunity for transgender persons and those with gender fluidity to look forward with strength and solidarity to a brighter future.

Those who support trans youth and intersex youth are welcome to attend, as are their loved ones and families. There is much need for support as trans and gender reassignment can be the most challenging of personal journeys.

This event is provided in collaboration with LGBTIQ Alliance – which Shepparton Interfaith is a participant – along with PFLAG and GV Pride.
